Guests are assured of a high-quality award-winning breakfast, made using the highest quality locally-sourced ingredients. Vegetarian and gluten free alternatives are always available.
In addition to cooked options, a breakfast bar is available offering fresh and preserved fruit, yoghurt, cereals, jams and local Chain Bridge Honey Farm honey, orange juice and apple juice.
Our cooked breakfast menu consists of:
Northumberland Breakfast - A traditional full-English cooked breakfast consisting of locally home-cured back bacon, Northumberland sausage, locally-made black pudding, fried tomato, mushrooms and a fried egg.
Vegetarian Breakfast - Our home-made Glamorgan sausage (made with local Northumberland Cheese Company ‘Cheviot’ cheese, fresh garden herbs and panko breadcrumbs) served with fried egg, tomatoes, mushrooms and wilted spinach.
Craster Kippers - Traditional locally-smoked herring fillets, served the traditional way with buttered wholemeal bread and a slice of lemon. The Craster kipper is a true taste of Northumberland.
Scrambled Eggs - A choice of plain, cheese (either local Northumberland Cheese Company 'Original' cheese, or mature cheddar cheese) or locally-smoked Scottish salmon.
Boiled Eggs - Boiled eggs with toast 'soldiers'.
Poached Eggs - Poached eggs on toast.
Eggs Benedict - A toasted English muffin topped with locally-cured bacon, two poached eggs and Hollandaise sauce.
Eggs Royale - A toasted English muffin topped with locally-smoked Scottish Salmon, two poached eggs and Hollandaise sauce.
Eggs Florentine - A toasted English muffin topped with wilted spinach, two poached eggs and Hollandaise sauce.
Eggs Forestière - A toasted English muffin topped with mushrooms, two poached eggs and Hollandaise sauce.
Eggs Hebridean - A toasted English muffin topped with two discs of locally-made black pudding, two poached eggs and Hollandaise sauce.
With advanced notice, we can cater for most special dietary requirements. With the exception of the black pudding and the Glamorgan sausage, we can offer gluten-free alternatives of all of our breakfast options.
We only use free-range eggs. Our eggs are sourced from R. Ord & Hens of Chatton Park Farm, Northumberland and, during the peak summer season, eggs are delivered direct to our door from the farm.
All our meat is from Turnbull’s of Alnwick, award winning family butchers and Butchers’ Q Guild member. Established in 1880, Turnbull’s source their meat locally and produce their own home-cured bacon, home-made Northumberland sausage and home-made black pudding. The Northumberland sausage contains Lindisfarne Mead and honey from Chain Bridge Honey Farm near Berwick-upon-Tweed.
We serve kippers and smoked salmon produced by L. Robson & Sons in their traditional and historic smokehouse in the small fishing village of Craster.
The cheese we use is from Northumberland Cheese Company near Blagdon. They use vegetarian rennet in all their cheeses.
We serve coffee from Pumphrey’s of Newcastle upon Tyne. Established in 1750, the historic family business produces a wide range of fine coffee.
Our teas and fruit teas are from Ringtons of Newcastle upon Tyne. Established in 1907 and delivering across the region and beyond, Ringtons are a long-established and highly regarded family business, offering fine Fairtrade and Ethical Tea Partnership teas.
The breakfast room has a Nespresso Machine for guest use throughout the day.
